The Aroi Experience!

Happy hump day everyone!

Last weekend my boyfriend and I were kindly invited into Aroi Asian restaurant based on Friary St. Kilkenny for a meal. I had been here once before and thoroughly enjoyed the food at that time so was looking forward to getting back and sussing out the menu! Aroi (pronounced ‘Aroy’) are based in Kilkenny & Limerick and won this year’s Asian street food of the year. They have also just celebrated their 2nd Birthday here in Kilkenny city. Aroi pride themselves on providing healthy but delicious foods as well as catering for vegan and gluten free diets. To top it all off there are NO MSG ingredients within their foods.

Location

First things first is location. Aroi Kilkenny is set in a perfect location just off Kilkenny’s High Street, it’s near the main hub of pubs, nightclubs and shops. It caters for large numbers with an added loft upstairs for larger groups including hens and stags!

Price Point

Next to the price point which is really worth mentioning. Aroi dishes start from as low as €3 to €11. The maximum you’ll pay for a main course in Aroi is just €15!  The atmosphere within Aroi is chilled, yet offers top notch service and efficiency. A great place to catch up with friends due to it’s chilled environment. Aroi Kilkenny also have amazing midweek deals, one which caught my eye is their Tuesday deal! This includes a ticket to IMC Kilkenny for a movie of your choice, gelato AND main course all for €16! Thursday night is ladie’s night too where you’ll received a glass of prosecco!

My suggestions

I 100% recommend the Pandan chicken to start! It is presented in pandan leaves which adds to it’s succulent flavour! It’s so tender and juicy and won’t fill you too much before your main!

The Thai calamari is also gorgeous, there’s a nice kick to it and is pretty light before your main.

I opted for a beef stir fry for my main. I choose “nuea pad khing”! This dish was DELICOUS! As you’ll see from the snaps below. Steamed jasmine rice was enough for me on the side. I finished every last bit! I was really impressed with how crunchy the veg was, a real bonus to see it’s not being over cooked!

To finish, if you can squeeze it in there are also a huge choice of delicious deserts! I opted for some of the selection of fruit and ice cream, it was nearly all I could manage!

I also recommend the crumble, it literally melts in your mouth!
